What sets your soul on fire?
Life can feel overwhelming at times. We can get so caught up in the day-to-day living that we forget we are creating our lives with every decision.
If you are anything like me, most of the time, those decisions are made without any thought to how I want to feel and what I truly want. We make surface-level decisions in the moment without considering how they will make us feel deep down.
That’s what causes a lot of stress and feelings of burnout. We go constantly without anything for our souls. While we eat to nourish our bodies, we neglect our souls.
God is the one who feeds our souls.
Therefore, I need to make sure I am spending time with Him. I need to know what fills me up and fires me up. I need to be intentional about how I want to feel each day, then desire those things and schedule them, if possible.
God knows exactly what I need. So, I need to go to Him and get my instructions for the day. Before the day pulls me in a hundred different directions, I need to schedule time for myself. Time to sit with God. Time to reflect. Time to process. Time to think about my life and what I want.
Driving home the other day, I did this. I paused and thought about what I truly love and want to feel every day. For me, it is a deep, spiritual connection with someone else. And I love helping people through the Lord.
It sets my soul on fire to connect with God. So, I need to make sure I set aside time in my day to connect with Him. I can do this through reading my Bible, writing, praying, and journaling. If I connect with God first, then He will show me how to help others.
We can live soul-draining, barely surviving lives. Or we can decide to live on fire for the Lord. It’s our choice.
Which one will you choose?
