Is God on Your Schedule?

God doesn’t want the leftovers of our day. He wants us to make time for Him—to be intentional about our relationship. While we might tell ourselves we’re too busy or too tired, God knows our hearts. He knows whether we truly desire Him, or if we just want Him to answer our prayers.
I remember a time in my life when I had all kinds of prayer requests. I was always asking God for something, but when He wanted me to do something for Him, I ignored His requests. One day, as I was giving Him my list of prayers and the way I wanted them answered, He spoke to me. He reminded me of all the things He had placed on my heart to do, but I had ignored. How could I expect Him to answer my prayers when I didn’t obey His voice?
That moment changed everything. It made me realize how one-sided my relationship with God had been.
I had constantly taken from my Lord without giving Him anything in return. It was as if we had a business arrangement—I went to church and expected Him to answer my prayers.
Thankfully, God loved me too much to let me stay that way.
Over time, we developed a true and loving relationship. Now, God is my best friend who listens to my heartaches and stays with me through the night if needed. He is also my Father who holds and comforts me when my heart is troubled. He always does what is best for me—even when it hurts. He allows me to do His work and blesses me in ways I can’t even explain. Even through the hard times, He speaks His sweet peace to my soul.
Now, I crave spending time with Him. I love to start my day by reading His Word and talking with Him. Instead of only asking for what I want, I thank Him for my blessings and ask what I can do for Him.
Because God is a priority in my life, He blesses all the other areas of my life. He continually fills up my cup until it overflows into the lives of others. When I take time to be with Him and grow in His grace and knowledge, He blesses me to show up for others.
One of the greatest lessons He has taught me is that my life is not just about me.
John 15:4 (KJV)
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
