Feeling Overwhelmed? Start Here

Do you know what you should be doing every day?

We cannot focus on essential things in our lives when we don’t know them. My to-do list feels as if it is a mile long every day. I often get distracted by all the things that I need to do. Then, God gave me clarity on my needs versus my wants.

While journaling, I asked the Lord to show me what I needed to focus on daily. What should I do if I could only do a few things each day? The five things He gave me were not what I expected, but these five things helped everything else in my life.

These are my non-negotiables. I do these things first thing in the morning before life happens. At 4:30 a.m., no one needs me, so I build the foundation of my day on the most important things first. Then, God will help me fit in all the other stuff. If I run out of time or energy and don’t finish everything, it’s okay because I completed my priorities.

My daily need-to-do list:
Read my Bible
Journal
Pray (especially for guidance)
Write
Follow the Lord

When I start my day with these things and allow them to guide me, it sets me up for a good day. God speaks to me in these things, and it helps me stay centered in the Lord.

Reading God’s word first thing in the morning encourages me. Journaling helps me see what I am thinking and even allows me to work through my thoughts. Prayer helps me communicate with God because I really want to have a relationship with Him. Writing something to share enables me to do God’s work. Following the Spirit of the Lord in my writing helps me to help someone else. Most of the time, the first person it helps is me.

Sweet friends, I urge you to sit down with the Lord and make your need-to-do list. If we ask Him, He will show us how to live our best lives and be fruitful for Him.

If you enjoyed this, please share it with your family and friends.
