You are good enough

Of all the people who have been mean to me in my life, I have been the meanest to myself. I’ve stood in front of the mirror and tore myself apart. I used to hate even looking at my scars. In my eyes, they were shameful. For so long, I was at war with myself.
I thought that I needed acceptance and love from other people. If they could only like me more, then my life would change. If I could only get approval from society, then my life would be perfect. Even when others spoke words of praise to me, however, I didn’t believe them. My problem wasn’t other people. It was me.
The love and acceptance that I so desperately needed were inside of me. When I accepted myself, just as I am, then I was able to give myself the love that my heart had been longing for.
Being a certain size, having a certain amount of things, and a certain amount of money does not make us better. We are all good enough—just the way that we are. God made us all in His image. Exactly like He wanted us to be. Hating ourselves for what we are not is a waste of our beautiful lives. We need to love ourselves for what we are.
Every day we need to do things that make us feel better. We need to speak kindly to ourselves. Tearing ourselves down every day is a way that the devil hurts us. He wins when he can get us to do his dirty work for him. Every negative word we speak to ourselves is a lie. We need to challenge the lie with the truth. The more we do this, the better we will get.
1 Peter 2:9 (KJV)
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
1 John 3:1 (KJV)
3 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
Ephesians 2:10 (KJV)
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Isaiah 43:4 (KJV)
4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.
Today, if the negative thoughts come upon you, think on these verses instead. Think about who that God says you are.
