Transforming Pain into Purpose: A New Perspective on Scars

We all have images of how life is supposed to be in our minds. Then, when our reality doesn’t match what we have imagined, it causes us pain. When we can’t change the circumstance, we need to change our perception.

Isaiah 55:8-9 KJV
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

If we take it to Him, God can help us process our pain and open our minds and hearts to a new perspective. Stubbornly holding onto my beliefs about things that cause me pain is not God’s way.

I’m not sure why we feel the need to carry the pain. The enemy tries to convince us that it is like a badge of honor to have heartache inside us.
I will never forget the day the Lord changed my mind about my scars.

God lifted the significant, heavy burden I had carried around for thirty-plus years. All He did was change my mindset. It was when I wrote the ending for my first Zippy book. As I was writing, it was as if a light bulb had gone off in my head, and God gave me a different way to look at my scars. Instantly, it transformed my pain into a blessing.

God took the very thing I had cried over for years and tried to pray away and turned it into one of the greatest blessings in my lifeā€”all by simply changing my thinking. But I had to be open to it, willing to give Him my pain and see things differently.

We can’t learn and grow when we stubbornly hold onto our beliefs and pain. Accepting my scars didn’t change the trauma that happened to me. It just helped me to see it differently.

Sweet friends, if you are in a deep pain, ask God to help you see it all with a new perspective. He can help us reframe the pain in our lives and allow Him to use it for good. When we overcome the thing meant to destroy us, we can help others do the same. And there is great joy in helping someone else. That is how God turns our heartaches into blessings.
