Death is hard. Whether we know it’s coming or a shock, it is painful. Our flesh never wants to let go. We want to hold onto those we love with both hands. In our minds, we think it shouldn’t have happened, and that creates even more pain. The grief of it all makes us believe death is horrible. But what if there is another way to look at things?
God loves us. He sees every struggle we endure. Day after day, He watches as we carry the burdens, pain, scars, and trauma of it all. God sees the tears in our hearts that never surface. He understands how we feel every moment of the day.
While God can help us carry it all and deal with it, it feels impossible for some to let go and let God help. Some people have a calling in their lives that is beyond hard. They go through so much. The enemy attacks them relentlessly.
Death is when God steps in and decides that it is enough. They’ve endured enough. They’ve done enough. And it’s time to come home.
Death is the doorway to Heaven. None of us can get to Heaven without dying. In Heaven, there is no more pain; nothing or no one can ever hurt them again. To those who are saved, death is a blessing. It is a gift from God.
Psalm 116:15 KJV
15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
While our flesh hurts, and that is understandable, our souls rejoice. Our souls want to be with God. We are so precious to Him.
God can help us with our grief. He can comfort and soothe like no other. When we accept what happened, we can start healing. Letting go is a great form of love, especially when we would rather those we love be with God in peace than with us in pain. It changes how we feel. We can feel joy for a life well lived, and for a soul that made such a difference.
I once read that we are all just walking each other home, and I thought that was such a beautiful way to look at it. One day, we will all be together with God.
Until then, I want to do what I can to tell others about my precious Lord and how great He is because I want as many people as possible to walk home with me.
