Blessings in the Fire

God gives me such clarity.
When I take my problems to Him and lay everything at His feet, God has a beautiful way of giving me perspective. He can see the larger picture and knows what is going to happen. Therefore, I believe Him when He assures me that it will all work beautifully. And I trust Him to do what is best for me.
This morning, I read about the three Hebrew children, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, thrown in the fiery furnace for not bowing down and worshipping the strange God the King had commanded. I’ve heard that story so many times, but this time, God showed me something I had initially missed.
But before I show you what I had missed, I want to back up a few verses. When faced with the decision to go with the crowd and the easier option, the Hebrew children decided to follow the Lord, regardless of the cost.
That’s how I want to be. I want to stand for God and serve Him, regardless of what the enemy throws at me. I want to be someone God can count on. I want to be someone who stands in faith, even AMID THE FIRE.
Daniel 3:17-1 KJV
17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
After the King had thrown them in the fire to destroy them, God showed up mighty. He appeared in the fire with them and protected them. Now, to the part I had missed. After they endured the fire, God had the king who had set out to destroy them to promote them.
The trying of their faith produced a blessing.
Daniel 3:30 KJV
30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon.
Sweet friends, sometimes we have to endure things to reach the blessings God has for us. While I never want to enter the fire, I know it is necessary to refine and strengthen me. And I also know that God is with me.
What a blessing to be so loved and protected by Him.
